Why This Course is Different

Most colour mixing courses teach theory in isolation. This one is different.

You won’t just learn how to mix colours—you’ll learn how to build a palette that feels personal, expressive, and grounded in your unique creative voice.

We start with what inspires you—a fabric, a photo, a favourite object—and use that to build your colour story.  You’ll mix colours that make sense together, and more importantly, feel like you.

Struggling With Colour?

If you've ever felt overwhelmed by colour theory or unsure which paint to reach for, you're not alone. You might be wondering:

  • Why can’t I mix the exact colour I see in all the beautiful inspirations around me?

  • Why do other people’s colours just seem to work, while mine feel all over the place?

  • Why does mixing always feel like trial and error, no matter how many tubes I buy?

Good news...

There’s a better way. And it doesn’t require a degree in colour theory or a wall of paints!

Instead, you’ll learn a clear, joyful process for building colour palettes from your own inspiration—using just a few well-chosen colours and a fresh way of looking at your paints.

A Little Shift. A Big Difference.

Before: You’re second-guessing your colours, overwhelmed by options, and stuck trying to make sense of it all.

After: You’re building intentional palettes, understanding why your mixes work, and making colours that belong together.

You Might Be Wondering…

Here are the answers to the most common questions.

  • Do I need to be a painter?

No! This course is for anyone who works with colour—painters, journalers, makers, and curious creatives. You don’t need to be a professional—just bring your paints and a sense of play.

  • What makes this course different from other colour theory classes?

This isn’t a theory-heavy course full of complex terminology. It’s practical, hands-on, and based on real examples you’ll actually use.

  • Is this course too basic if I already know a bit about colour mixing?

Not at all. Many students with years of experience have told me they finally understood colour mixing after seeing it presented this way.

  • What if I don’t have the exact colours?

You’ll learn how to mix with what you already have. A suggested colour list is included, but flexibility is encouraged.

  • Is there a community or way to get support?

Yes! You can ask questions directly inside the course platform, and I check in regularly. I want you to feel supported at every step.

  • I’m not techy—will the digital tools be hard to use?

Not at all. The bonus digital palette lesson walks you through it step-by-step using the free Coolors app. It’s super user-friendly—and even fun to play with.

  • What if I’ve already taken other colour theory classes?

That’s great! This course won’t repeat dry textbook theory. Instead, it gives you a hands-on, artist-led process you can apply straight away—especially if you’ve felt overwhelmed or uninspired by theory-heavy courses in the past.

  • Will I need to print anything?

You’ll get both printable and digital-friendly PDFs—so whether you prefer to swatch with real paint or keep things tidy on a tablet, you’ll be supported.

  • Will this help me develop my signature colour style?

Yes! That’s one of the core goals. By learning how to mix from your own inspiration sources, you’ll start to notice patterns and preferences in your palettes—and gain the confidence to recreate them.
